The Jordanian football clubs recorded an unprecedented position by implementing the decision to suspend participation in the league and refusing to play the matches of the sixth round. The last two matches between Al-Wahdat and Al-Wehdat against Shabab Al-Urdun and Ma’an against Al-Salt were the day before yesterday, Saturday (September 23, 2023), while the local federation did not address this issue in the meeting. today.

The clubs took the decision to suspend participation in the league until their demands were met by the Jordanian Football Association, most notably the disbursement of 200,000 Jordanian dinars to each club and finding an official sponsor for the professional club championships for the current season 2023-2024.

The clubs asked the Football Association a few days ago to fulfill their demands, before the sixth round matches that started last Thursday with the match between Sahab and Ramtha. The Federation did not respond to the requests, but rather responded by threatening to impose penalties on the teams that refuse to play.

The clubs decided, after their meeting yesterday, Sunday, at the Al-Faisaly Club headquarters, to resume participation in the league, in order to ensure the interest of the game in the country.

A statement issued by the clubs, read by the president of the Al-Faisaly Club, Nidal Al-Hadid, said: “The professional clubs met with all their representatives at the Al-Faisaly Club and discussed the issue of suspending participation (in the league), and agreed to meet with Prince Ali bin Al-Hussein, President of the Jordanian Football Association, to discuss the problems and difficulties they are suffering from.” The clubs, most notably the financial problems that led to the suspension of their participation in the Professional League tournament.”

He added, “Out of concern for the public interest and the interest of football in our dear country, the professional clubs have unanimously decided to return to participating in the professional league.”
