
The 24th edition of the Morocco Rally began yesterday, Saturday, in the city of Agadir, which includes several categories (cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc.) on different tracks, with the participation of the best rally crews across the world.
This sporting event, which is organized under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is considered a crossing journey from west to east through the largest deserts of the Kingdom, reaching the Merzouga region via Zagora.
This year, the Morocco Rally will attract the most prominent stars of the rally, who will drive 247 vehicles, including 101 cars and ten trucks, as well as 136 motorcycles and quad bikes.
According to the organizers, the philosophy of the Morocco Rally, which will continue until the 18th of this month, is to share the values of brotherhood and cooperation beyond the sporting aspect, highlighting that the passage of the race convoy aims to constitute a moment of shared joy, leaving a tangible impact for the future and in the long term.
On this occasion, the director of the Morocco Rally, David Castera, said: “The twenty-fourth edition of the Morocco Rally is organized in the context of national recovery after the earthquake that occurred in several regions of the Kingdom, which makes me very emotional,” adding, “My thoughts and sympathy are with the victims and their families.”
He added, “The route of this session has been approved as drawn in its entirety, so I thank very much the host country and the local people who allowed us to organize this new session of the Morocco Rally.” He added, “It is a pride to host such a major event, and it is a responsibility with regard to the competitors but also towards the spaces and their inhabitants, and every year, we will do everything in our power to rise to the level of these challenges.” And in the arrival city of Merzouga, which will turn into something similar to the capital of the rally. An awards ceremony will be held to crown the winners of the Morocco Rally, as well as the 2023 World Champions.”
