The French magazine “France Football” was subjected to ridicule by Moroccan and Saudi fans after it awarded the award for the best goalkeeper in the world to Argentine Emiliano Martinez at the expense of Moroccan international Yassine Bono.
Although Yacine Bounou ranked 13th in the World Player of the Year award, two places ahead of Emiliano Martinez, who ranked 15th, the French magazine preferred to give the award to the Argentine goalkeeper.
A Saudi fan wrote in his account on the “X” platform: “By God, first place is unfair and only Bono deserves it.” Another wrote: “By God, it is unfair and forbidden. How can the 15th place get the award for the best goalkeeper in the world at the expense of a goalkeeper who came in 13th place?”
