Argentine star Lionel Messi, who won the Ballon d’Or for the eighth time in his history, confirmed that Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe will win the award one day.
Messi said in a statement after winning the award: “Haaland and Mbappe will win the Ballon d’Or one day.”
He added: “Haaland deserves to be crowned with the Ballon d’Or, given that he won the English Premier League and the Champions League and was their top scorer.”
He continued, saying: “This award could have gone to Haaland, and I am sure he will win it in the coming years.”
It is noteworthy that Lionel Messi has previously won the Ballon d’Or 7 times, in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019, and 2021.
