Pedro Sanchez’s first statement about Morocco, Spain and Portugal organizing the 2030 World Cup

The head of the Spanish interim government, Pedro Sanchez, said on Wednesday that the FIFA Council’s unanimous decision to adopt the Morocco-Spain-Portugal file as the sole candidacy for organizing the 2030 FIFA World Cup is “very good news and a source of great pride.”
Mr. Sanchez said in a message on his account on the “X” platform: “We will show the power of football and the true values of sports.”
The head of the interim Spanish government stressed that Spain, Morocco and Portugal “will defend the values of equality, solidarity and healthy competition, which should accompany sports.”
A statement from the Royal Court announced: “His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, announces with great joy to the Moroccan people the news that the International Football Association Board has unanimously approved the Morocco-Spain-Portugal bid as the sole candidacy to organize the 2030 FIFA World Cup.”
The communication stressed that this decision represents a tribute and recognition of the special position that Morocco enjoys among major nations.
On this occasion, His Majesty the King expressed his congratulations to the Kingdom of Spain and the Republic of Portugal. His Majesty reiterated the commitment of the Kingdom of Morocco to work, in full integration, with the bodies in charge of this file in the host countries.
