The International Federation nominates Sufyan El-Bakali for the award for the best runner in the world

Today, Thursday, the Olympic and world 3000-meter steeplechase champion, Sofiane El-Bakali, was nominated for the Best Sprinter of the Year 2023 award, awarded by the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics).

The list of candidates, announced by the International Association of Athletics Federations (World Athletics) website, includes 11 runners, including Al-Bakali, who was crowned world champion last August in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the second time in a row, during the World Athletics Championships held in Budapest.

With this new world title, the Moroccan champion confirmed his status as the undisputed master of the 3000 meter steeplechase.

According to the World Athletics website, the voting process will begin this week in preparation for the 2023 World Athletics Awards ceremony.

The list of candidates was selected by an international committee that includes athletics experts representing the six continental regions of World Athletics.
