The Ukrainian national team decided to withdraw from the 2024 Beach Soccer World Cup tournament held in the United Arab Emirates, according to what was announced by the Ukrainian Beach Soccer Federation website.
This decision comes from the Ukrainian Federation as a protest against the Belarusian national team participating in the tournament under the national flag of its country.
The Ukrainian Football Association appealed to the European Union, UEFA, the International Federation of Association Football, FIFA, and the International Beach Soccer Federation, to exclude Belarus from participating in the World Cup.
Earlier on September 27, the English Football Association announced that English youth teams would not play matches with Russian teams, following the European Football Association’s decision to ease the ban imposed on Russian teams. The English Football Association also called on other countries to boycott these tournaments.
On September 26, the UEFA Executive Committee proposed the return of Russian national teams for players under the age of 17 to participate in international tournaments.
The World Cup is scheduled to be held in the UAE from February 15 to 25, 2024, and the Russian beach soccer team will miss the competition.
